Greetings,
Some in the neighborhood have expressed ongoing concern about the overall look and health of our grass, shrubs and bushes. Today I spoke with our representatives from Westwind, our property manager, and Summit, our landscape vendor about watering this summer. Here's what I learned: Summit, who is managing our irrigation, advised me that our HOA is not limited to watering only two days per week as is stated in Denver Water's drought information. However, we are only allowed to water up to 65% of what we used on average over the past three years. Thus, this summer we must reduce our watering amount by 35% from the average of the previous few years.
Summit assures me that their primary focus is to make sure all grass and bushes remain alive this summer even though some of it might not look great. I stressed to Summit that our biggest concerns right now are the south-facing lawns and the Archer island grass. They understand our concerns and are making ongoing adjustments to our watering schedule.
I hope this information is helpful and gives everyone a better understanding of the limitations we're under this summer with regard to watering. Please reach out to any of us on the Board any time (Dan, Barb, Ed) or contact Tara at Westwind if you have questions or comments. Thank you.
Update 6/15/2013 - Below is a letter from our landscape vendor which provides more detail with regard to watering restrictions and use for summer 2013.
