The following message was sent out today from the Lowry Master Association:
Dear Lowry Residents,
During the past four to five months, the LCMA has received information from Lowry residents about at least twelve home break-ins. The robberies have been concentrated in Lowry's Northwest neighborhood, with a few occurring in the South and East Park areas. In the last week, the number of break-ins has increased. The LCMA has been communicating with District 3 Denver Police Commander Joe Montoya who identified the need for a task force of detectives and officers and asked that the LCMA forward information to the Lowry community. He posted the following yesterday:
The break-ins may be committed by one or more persons, but there is pattern:
-- The robberies are occurring between 2-5A and usually around 4:45A.
-- The robber(s) appear to be going house to house trying doors until they find an unlocked door.
-- More than 50% of the burglaries occurred after accessing the home through an unlocked exterior door, usually a back or patio door.
-- In nearly all of the burglaries, the home's residents were asleep on the second floor when the robber(s) entered the home.
-- The robber(s) typically steal anything left on the first floor of the home - purses, wallets, laptops - and sometimes will take cash and leave the other items in the alley after the burglary.
-- The robber(s) may or may not be deterred by alarm systems going off nor by being confronted by the home's residents.
-- The robber(s) may be driving a dark colored Jeep.
If you have any information or if your home has been burglarized and you have NOT already reported it to Denver Police, please call the non-emergency number at (720) 913-1300.
What You Can Do:
The LCMA's goal is to promote community safety and well-being through neighborhood communication. We encourage you to:
